Lauren Barrette
Lauren Barrette is an educator, trainer, and community builder who has spent the last seven years living and working in the rural mountain region of Colorado. She’s the founder of Empathway Education, a small business focused on language justice, inclusive training, and creating spaces where people feel like they truly belong. Through workshops, coaching, and curriculum design, she helps organizations think more deeply about how they communicate and connect across language and culture.
Lauren has taught youth and adults in a variety of settings including in formal institutions such as Colorado Mountain College and secondary schools. She has also taught in community settings such as community-wide education campaigns, non-profit settings, and consulting the public sector. She has designed and led trainings on language justice, health equity, family engagement, and building belonging. Her work is grounded in the belief that language is a powerful tool for empathy—and that building systems with inclusion in mind can lead to stronger, more connected communities. Whether she’s working with adult learners, nonprofit staff, or local governments, Lauren brings curiosity, creativity, and a deep respect for people’s lived experiences.
